Carmen
Join us for Bizet’s most famous opera. Carmen, a fiery Spanish rose, loves to live on the edge and uses her feminine wiles to get what she wants – but beware; play with her and you might get burned. The steadfast young soldier Don José falls hard for her charms and rashly leaves his sweetheart Michaela for a life with Carmen. But when Carmen drops him for superstar “Toreador” Escamillo, his jealousy erupts, growing into an emotional storm that could destroy them all. Our production frames Bizet’s celebrated melodies in a modern, minimalistic setting, allowing for the power of the story and the drama of the characters to take center stage. True to the lure of classic Spain, Carmen will draw you deeply into an unforgettable opera experience.

Follow the trail of breadcrumbs to Opera Colorado’s production of the beloved fairytale Hansel & Gretel. When they become stranded in the Magic Forest, things look “Grimm” indeed for Gretel and her brother Hansel. What follows is an enchanted odyssey through a magical forest and into a house made of gingerbread. The pair encounters everything from a magical Sandman to a witch with a sweet tooth who really likes kids…well-done, that is! Sung in English and staged traditionally, this enchanting performance is sure to entertain. A unique and creative way to incorporate classical literature and fairytales into your curriculum!
