Opera Colorado offers a variety of educational programs available for audiences of all ages! These programs come directly to your school or community venue. The programs for the 2011-2012 Season include:
Opera on Tour - One-act, one-hour operas. This year we're presenting the fiery tragedy Carmen and the beloved fairytale Hansel & Gretel (both sung in English.)
POPera - Geared toward younger audiences, this program explores the influence of opera and musical theater on popular culture using pieces from film television and cartoons.
Arias & Ensembles - A selection of popular highlights from the operatic and musical theatre repertoire that will educate and entertain with background information and interesting facts.
In-School Workshops - Interactive, customizable workshops on team building, concert preparation, elements of production, math and more that can be tailored to your curriculum or activity.
Generation OC - a pilot program to teach students about the work behind the scenes at an opera production company.
Opera in a Trunk - A trunk filled with costumes, props and activities makes opera come alive! Complete with a presentation by an Opera Colorado Education Specialist, this year's trunks correspond to Mozart's The Marriage of Figaro, Humperdinck's Hansel & Gretel, Bizet's Carmen and an Opera for Beginners trunk.
