Bass-baritone Ryan Kuster strikes a triumphant pose as he sings the Toreador song from Carmen
Baritone Ryan Kuster (Escamillio) in Opera Colorado’s 2014 concert performance of Carmen.

In this excerpt of the famous “Toreador Song” (“Votre toast, je peux vous le rendre” – Your toast, I can return it to you), bass-baritone Ryan Kuster (Escamillio) struts around the stage, singing about the perks of his glamorous profession. His charms seem to sway Frasquita and Mercédès, but Carmen (Sandra Piques Eddy) might need more convincing.

Opera Colorado audiences will remember Ryan Kuster’s appearance as Figaro in 2019’s production of Mozart’s The Marriage of Figaro and Sandra Piques Eddy’s appearance as Meg Page in 2018’s production of Verdi’s Falstaff.

Bizet’s Carmen was performed in concert at the Ellie Caulkins Opera house in 2014.
