Opera Colorado Archives: Stefano de Peppo as Dr. Bartolo in The Barber of Seville (2019)

Baritone Stefano de Peppo’s Dr. Bartolo, the ruthless lawyer, was an audience favorite during Rossini’s Barber of Seville. In this rapid-fire bel canto clip, the proud Bartolo admonishes Rosina (mezzo-soprano Megan Marino) for her attempts at deception and tells her that she has to try a lot harder to fool a doctor like him.

Mr. de Peppo was set to return to the Ellie Caulkins Opera House in May of 2020 for Puccini’s Tosca, before it was cancelled due to COVID-19.
