Opera Colorado Archives: The Opera Colorado Chorus in La Traviata (2018)

There was a time, not too long ago, when we would get all decked-out to go out on the town. Out-dressing everyone at Flora’s (Kira Dills DeSurra) party, Gastone (Aaren Rivard) upstaged the rest of the entertainers and brought in his crew of matadors in our 2018 production of Verdi’s La Traviata.
In “Di Madride noi siam mattadori” (We are matadors from Madrid} and “È Piquillo un bel gagliardo Biscaglino mattador” (Piquillo is a bold and handsome matador from Biscay), Gastone and his friends stomp around and play bull-fighter. These end up being the last precious moments of levity at the party, as the festivities are soon interrupted by Alfredo’s jealousy. #SempreOC
