Bio

Dr. Lee is a cellist, conductor, and teacher. He received his Bachelor’s degree in composition and piano from the Eastman School of Music, where he won the Bernard Rogers composition award and received a Master’s degree in cello performance at Temple University under Jeffrey Solow. He then moved to Boulder to join the graduate quartet program at the University of Colorado, Boulder, where he received a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in 2004. 

Dr. Lee has been principal cellist of the Boulder Philharmonic orchestra since 1998, and co-principal cellist of Colorado Ballet Orchestra since 2002, and joined the Opera Colorado Orchestra in 2011. In addition to performing actively in the region as a chamber musician and soloist, he is a soughtafter teacher. In addition to his position at Regis, Dr. Lee is on faculty at Metro State University of Denver as an instructor of cello. His private studio continues to produce leading young cellists. His current and former students can be found in prestigious youth orchestras in the region well as nationally recognized professional ensembles.
