It’s Opening Night! The entire Opera Colorado team is eagerly awaiting this evening, when the curtain rises on the 2018-19 season, and a stunning production of Verdi’s La Traviata. We hope you’ll join us for a performance during the run (Nov. 3, 6, 9, and 11)—and, if you do, you may notice a few additions to the Opera Colorado experience.

One of the new aspects we’re most excited about is the introduction of limited edition performance poster for sale in the lobby. For these performances of La Traviata, Opera Colorado commissioned local artist John Vogl to capture the spirit of our tragic heroine, Violetta. We think you’ll agree he’s done a stunning job.

In the tradition of collectible show posters, Opera Colorado’s La Traviata poster is a limited-edition run of only 500 prints. Each 18×24 poster has been screen printed onto heavy, high-quality paper, and is individually numbered and signed by the artist. These keepsakes are available only at performances of La Traviata, and when we say “limited edition,” we truly mean it. Once this run of 500 sell out, they’re never to be reprinted—so stop by the Ellie Caulkins Opera House lobby pre- or post-show, or during intermission, to purchase yours.

(For your convenience, you can purchase your poster pre-show or during intermission and we’ll hold it for you until the end of the evening. If you forget to pick up your pre-paid posters before leaving the theater, just give us a call at 303.468.2030 and you can arrange to pick up your poster at our offices in Englewood.)

Standard Poster: $35

Individually numbered #27-500 and signed by artist John Vogl

Cast Poster: $75

Individually numbered #1-26 and signed by cast members Cecilia Violetta López (Violetta), Eric Barry (Alfredo), Malcolm MacKenzie (Germont), Stage Director Alison Moritz, and artist John Vogl

So, what else is new?

There’s now a free photo booth in the lobby, complete with glam props and costume pieces, and a talented photographer who’ll snap your photos and share them on the official Opera Colorado Facebook page the following day. (See a sneak peek from the final dress rehearsal here.) Be sure to tag yourself, share with friends, and download your pictures for a memento of your night with us.

Also new this season, and by popular demand, drinks are now permitted inside the theater. That means no more gulping down your champagne before running in to take your seats (unless you really want to; champagne is delicious, and we won’t blame you). Just remember that no glassware is permitted inside the theater, so ask your bartender to pour or transfer your drink into an eco-friendly, compostable cup instead of a glass. You should also note that there are no cup holders at the seats, so we ask that you hold onto your drink or carefully place it on the floor where it won’t be bumped by other patrons. And, for the safety of others, please don’t place cups on ledges or railings.

We’ll see you at the opera house!

  1. I would like to purchase one of the cast signed posters. I will be at the performance this evening, is it possible to pay for it in advance or can you tell me when they go on sale? Thanks, Bob Keatinge
